Considering the Teaching Profession? Maybe you should.

Can you believe that teaching is ranked in the top 3 happiest jobs according to several surveys? Well not only do I have insider information (being in the profession myself) but recent news from Edustaff also confirms it.

It seems as though December provides teachers with even more job satisfaction as pupils embrace the Christmas fun and festivities.

Although teachers put in an average of 52 hours a week with lesson planning and teaching, the recruitment for schools website claims that teachers survive primarily because it is such a rewarding endeavour. They also offer additional survival advice for the run up to Christmas.

One key statistic that caught my attention is 83% of teachers claiming they loved their job in comparison 59% of people in non-teaching work claiming a love for their ‘9 to 5’.

On the flip side 76% of teachers cited workload stress as the most important factor in deciding to leave the profession and also researchers from the University of Liverpool found teaching and social work to be in the top three for poor psychological and physical ill health caused by stress.

So with often simultaneous high happiness and stress, would you consider the teaching profession? Let us know in the comments below.
