The cu chi tunnels are a popular tourist destinations with a number of
operators running trips from Saigon (day trips as well as 2-3 day
overnight trips around the area). Any hotel will have brochures in the
lobby and any travel agency will be able to sell tickets.

You can do guided tours of the Cu-Chi tunnels which can be booked at
any travel agent or hotel in Saigon, but I don't think they will allow
you to roam around them on your own unsupervised.

This is a reallly interesting place. We visited it when we were there
several years ago. As another poster mentioned, I don't believe
they'll allow you to just roam the tunnels unsupervised. There's some
very interesting war history there, though I won't go into it as it
could be interpreted as trying to start a flame war - which I'M NOT.
Also, as another poster mentioned, our hotel in Saigon set this one up
for us.

Our tour guide at the tunnels was a former North Vietnamese soldier
with a chunk of his upper arm blown out (but still very usable). He
was nice to everybody and had no problem answering all questions that
pertained to the war.

At the tail end of the tour, we got to munch down Yucca tree roots for
a desert. Not quite like the Yucca desert I get at a local Vietnamese
restaurant (with coconut milk, ground peanuts, etc.), but definately an
experience I'd like to try again!

Some of those tunnels can get small for those of us who are a bit big
and bulky. I had to skip the last one.
