We’ve all heard of Glastonbury and V Festival, but if you don’t fancy the commercialism and extortionate ticket prices, then this guide will help you find truly unique experiences that will help to give you a summer to remember.

After all, just because your entire Uni is talking about Glastonbury doesn’t mean that you’re going to want to join in the mud fest that will commence.

Committing your time and money to a festival is a big deal, you’re probably going to be there for a few days, and the weather may not always be great, so it really does help if it’s one that no matter what the days bring you can still enjoy.

Take your pick of the UK’s alternative festivals to see which one suits you down to the ground.

Buddhafield Festival – Wednesday 13th – Sunday 17th July

If loud music, dirty fields, drunks and general debauchery is your worst nightmare, then you may just enjoy a more holistic approach to getting your groove on.

Based in Taunton Somerset, Buddhafield is run by the local Buddhist community, and offers you the opportunity to meditate, try yoga, tai chi and craft ethical wears until you feel fully at one with the world.

It simply couldn’t be more different from the usual rowdy festival scene, and as it’s alcohol free you can come back with a clear head and in a more blissful state.

Check out all the photos from their previous event to give you a glimpse of what to expect.

Burghley Film Festival 27th – 31st July

If camping is a no-go and you prefer to spend your time snuggled up with home comforts enjoying a good film, then this film festival held in the quaint Georgian town of Stamford will have your best interests at heart.

Pitched in the magnificent historical grounds of Burghley house, you can spend your days away eating ice cream and watching the selection of hot picks that have been chosen.

Whether you fancy a little afternoon tea, or something hot off the BBQ with a cold cider in hand. There’s no need for wellington boots or macs with this option.

UK Vape Fest – 6th – 7th August

Vaping has become a cultural phenomenon over the past decade, and it’s loyal followers have created an entire calendar of vaping events, that can keep you busy all summer long.

Combining every social element of vaping and a great music line-up, you can ensure to find bespoke flavours whilst hitting the dance floor to some of your favourite artists.

Brands from across the globe flock to this UK event, as it’s one of the biggest in the industry.

Take along your latest piece and see if you can find those weird wonderful flavours you keep watching about on Blake Vapes.

Festival No6 – 1st – 4th September

Epitome of picturesque parties, Festival No6 is set in the stunning Portmeirion coastal village in wales.

Not just for those that love current pop, this festival has theatre, street carnivals, yurts for luxury camping and the opportunity to dance under the stars to your favourite artists.

It’s certainly not your traditional muddy field, as the dreamy Italian architecture, colourful streets, and pretty gardens, will have you wondering who could have thought up such a peculiar place.

Plus, with the beach on your door step it would be silly not to take a picnic or two for those rare days of sunshine.

Music doesn’t have to be the only reason you hit a muddy field this year.

Take some inspiration from these festivals and if you can’t find something you like then try searching for it, or asking some friends to suggest something new.

There are now hundreds of incredible festivals across the UK for you to experience, all without the worry of queues and muddy puddles.
