Student Books Website Launch

LondonStudent.co.uk is pleased to announce the beta launch of sister site StudentBooks.com

Student Books has been a project in the pipeline that we’re very excited about for a few reasons but firstly let me answer your question, ‘Why?’.

Why do students need another online book store?

This is an obvious question, what with Amazon being the monster it is along with Waterstones and Borders being online powerstores as well as brick and mortar bookstores. But none of these stores are focused truly around a student community. That’s where Student Books comes in…

In our opinion buying books for university has always been one of those necessary yet expensive chores. Not particularly fun and is often a mad rush for many students at the start of the college term.

The aim of Student Books is to make shopping for books easier and more efficient. Also the site aims to connect you with other students. Part of the StudentBooks.com website is the advanced search functions, the other part is an international student discussion forum where members are invited to write book reviews, sell old textbooks, ask and offer advice about study techniques, discuss movies, travel and anything else for that matter!

It’s all about a sense of student community and reaching out to other students around the world. Current students live in a world with fewer boundaries and more curiosity. We’re encouraging students to visit the discussion forums and say hello. Maybe even offer a review or a book for sale while you’re there!” – says Katie Matthews, SB marketing co-ordinator.

Student Books uses some sophisticated book search software which connects to Amazon and offers new and used textbooks at the lowest prices. Visitors to the site will notice that book searches can be conducted by ISBN number, keyword, book title or even author. Results are provided along with book reviews from previous customers and there’s also a section for similar items.

Reading List Search

But it doesn’t stop there. The most ambitious feature of StudentBooks.com is the reading list search.

Students simply select their university from a drop down list, followed by their subject and finally their course or module. Hitting search brings up a list of books from a reading list for that particular course and college.

Of course the site is in beta status which means testing is currently happening and the reading lists aren’t fully compiled, but head over to the site and check it out for yourself. This is one feature in future that we’re certain will prove useful.

Students why not visit the site now and browse the textbooks? If you’d like to help out in creating the university reading lists (and earning commission on future sales from your list) then contact Student Books.

Webmasters we invite you to install the Student Books ‘book search widget‘ – offer your site visitors a useful tool and earn commissions for book purchases. Here’s what the search boxes look like:
